UNIVERSAL WORDS FOR HAPPINESS
The limits of our language are said to define the boundaries of our world. This is because we can only really register and make sense of what we can apply a name to. We are restricted by the words we know and sometimes we have thoughts, ideas or feelings that we can’t define with the words of our own language. For this we must think globally and seek out the answers from the diverse languages from around the world. These words we can’t define are called untranslatable words and they are words where no exact equivalent word or phrase exists in English.
Exploring new languages offers us a unique glimpse into different cultures than our own. It encourages diversity and understanding and it enables us to experience new ways of life. A lot of these words describe feelings and emotions and that speaks to us all with universal language. We all share the capacity to feel emotion and that is what unites us all.
This list was compiled with beautifully rich and meaningful words that express the feelings of joy, happiness, love and serenity. Happiness is a universal feeling that we can all identify with no matter where we call home. Explore some of the new words that convey a state of being that we all seek to achieve.
